Brain Stroke

The stroke, otherwise called a Brain Attack occurs when the blood supply to the brain is cut off or blocked, or disrupted. This leads to the death of brain cells like cells in the brain canโ€™t survive without a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients. The death of brain cells can impair brain function and cause impaired speech, memory, thinking movements, and other physical functions. In acute cases, such situations could lead to paralysis or even death.

Ischemic stroke occurs when the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain are blocked. It is divided into two parts:

  • Thrombotic Strokes: It occurs when the blood clot develops in the blood vessels of the brain.
  • Embolic Strokes: It occurs when the blood clot from other parts of the body travel to the brain.

Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when the blood vessels supplying the blood to the brain gets ruptured and bleeds to an extent.

  • Intracerebral Haemorrhage: It occurs when there is bleeding from blood vessels in the brain.
  • Subarachnoid Haemorrhage: It occurs when there is bleeding from the space exists between the brain & membranes covering the brain.
